Photodynamic Therapy (red light and blue light)

Photodynamic therapy is an additional option for treating precancerous lesions. This treatment might be a good alternative for people who have twenty or thirty lesions since all lesions are treated at once while cryotherapy deals with each lesion individually. Photodynamic therapy usually involves less downtime as well.

In the offices of Beverly Held MD, we offer treatment using red light and blue light n therapy. Upon evaluation of your skin condition , Dr Held will present you with various options we offer and will recommend the option she feels will best suit your skin condition.

Photodynamic therapy is also a suitable alternative for treatment for some patients who have acne as well.

Chemical Peels

What is a chemical peel?
This is a procedure that is done at the dermatologist’s office to improve your skin. Chemical peels are sometimes known as “lunch time peels” because the procedure does not take long.
*Individual results may vary for all cosmetic procedures

How does it work?
Chemicals peels can help get rid of dead skin cells and can stimulate the growth of new skin cells. Some chemical peels can help stimulate collagen to give more even skin tone and texture.

What is it used for?
Chemical peelsoften make your skin look healthier, younger, improve the texture of the skin and help fade dark spots. Chemical peels may also help to reduce the appearance of brown spots, discolorations, fine lines, and superficial scars. Chemical peels are also used to improve acne and oily skin.

What can I expect from a treatment?
Your face will first be cleaned with pads then the chemical will be applied. After a minute your skin will start stinging. After two or three minutes the stinging will increase and it will then fade quickly. Your face will then be rinsed with water and a moisturizer will be applied, as well as a sunscreen. Your skin may look pink in color and after one to five days your skin will start to peel. The peeling differs in every case; it can go from big dry flakes to almost invisible peels. You should not pull any of the scales as this can affect the procedure. Peels are recommended every two to four weeks for better results. Your dermatologist can recommend different treatments depending on your skin. To see better results, wait after three peels.
*Individual results may vary for all cosmetic procedures

What types of Chemical Peels do you offer?
We have TCA peels, Salicylic Acid, and Jessners.

Chemical Peels Cosmetic Surgery Treatment

A lot of people are turning to Botox to help reduce lines on their face and wrinkles. Botox is a protein that relaxes the muscles in the injected area and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Botox works by weakening the muscles that cause the wrinkles. After treating the muscles, the muscles relax and that aids in helping the skin to flatten. Botox is designed to enhance your beauty and smooth out wrinkles. Botox is also used with patients that have excessive sweating in the feet, armpits and hands. It has been known to reduce this malady.

This is a small procedure that allows the patient to continue with normal activities right after the procedure. A small needle is used and the majority of patients will feel a tolerable pain during the procedure. If the patient requests, local anesthesia can be used if applied 30 minutes before the procedure.

Botox is FDA approved and is safe and can often produce amazing results; these results can last three to five months and you will see results in about three to seven days after the injection.

Dr. Held has had over 20 years of experience with Botox and is keenly aware of techniques which produce optimal results.
